Drawing on many years of professional experience in a variety of
organisations, People Matters can assist organisations by providing
direct advice to senior management. Such advice embraces areas such
as developing and maintaining a strategic focus, policy development
and implementation, staff management, finance and business issues.
People Matters has provided mentors and coaches for a number of
individuals in a diverse range of occupations. We have worked with
staff members, team leaders, middle managers and CEOs. Assistance
has been provided both to those with high potential as well as those
experiencing performance problems The model of coaching used is
based on a partnership approach where the coach and person being
coached work together in what has been called a `co-active' relationship.
The individual's needs are the driving force and each coaching program
is tailored to suit these needs. The critical skills for the coach,
who acts as an enabler, facilitator, motivator and encourager, are
the skills of listening and questioning. The overall aim of professional
coaching is to enhance an individual's effectiveness and job satisfaction
by providing the circumstances where he/ she can make positive changes.

Facilitation of strategic planning and
team development
Strategic planning is a vital part of the life of any organisation
as is developing high performance teams. People Matters will work
with your organisation to ensure that a future focus is maintained
and that success is achieved by developing harmonious and highly
effective teams.
Planning and team development projects are enhanced by the use
of Zing, an
Australian invention, which enables up to 12 keyboards to operate
simultaneously on a common problem or task, using multiple active
windows on a single personal computer. Group members meet electronically
face-to-face, work simultaneously, and use the computer to help
collect, review and evaluate ideas, interpret those ideas in relation
to current knowledge and make decisions. The process ensures that
all ideas are recorded and retained. All participants, including
those less confident or articulate, have an equal say in the process.
Zing does away with the need for whiteboards and butchers' paper
and all ideas generated are collected electronically for later use
in analysing the data and producing recommendations. Zing helps
people make better decisions, faster and a full written report on
planning or team development session can be provided to clients
soon after the session.

Mediation
People Matters has broad experience in helping resolve conflict
situations through mediation. In an increasingly litigious society
mediation provides the opportunity for organisations to solve problems
internally without recourse to expensive processes using legal or
government agencies. In particular it:
